About ACE
Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) is a registered nonprofit that uses evidence and reason to help people do the most good for animals. We identify where donations can best help animals and award grants to promising projects around the globe. Our three core programs are Charity Evaluation & Recommendations, Movement Grants, and Meta-Fundraising.
About the Role
This is a strategy and execution role — you own the product, but you also have to build it. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and take the lead on growing ACE’s digital donor base, with a primary focus on bringing in new counterfactual money through direct donations and building and retaining a pipeline of smaller donations through digital first channels. This role has a lot of moving parts and it is possible we need to iterate and move quickly, which may need different skills. We strongly encourage people who meet ~80% or more of our criteria to apply, as long as there is a demonstrable acumen to pick up and learn new things.
The goal for 2026–27 is ambitious: at least doubling the amount we earned last year, through smarter digital growth, stronger donor identity, and new acquisition channels. This is approximately a 16- 20 hour per week commitment. This is a staff role and not a contractor role.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Donor Growth
- Lead the strategy and execution for growing our monthly digital donor base, giving donors a strong identity and a compelling reason to give repeatedly
- Drive digital acquisition across landing pages, the website, and media—the core aim is to bring in new counterfactual revenue
- Identify and cultivate current revenue streams while testing new ideas for where growth can happen
- Build and optimize conversion funnels, from awareness through to donation sign-up
Audience Development & New Channels
- Lead on our New Protector (new donor audience who may like animals but does not yet give in alignment with effective giving principles) audience initiative—shape the experience for this audience and apply learnings to other emerging audiences
- Work on the website and create tools to engage audiences (examples include gamification, quizzes etc.)
- Develop ACE’s earned media presence through content marketing, with a focus on new media partnerships (Substack, podcasts, YouTube), and influencer outreach
- Manage relationships with external sponsors (Youtube, Influencers etc) and media partners
Digital Marketing Execution
- Own and optimize Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns
- Run non-profit email marketing campaigns, with a focus on A/B testing, segmentation, and conversion
- Ensure UI/UX of donation pages and external landing pages drives conversions—coordinate updates with the IT team
- Hire and manage contractors as needed for creative production and PR
Cross-org Collaboration
- Maintain and build relationships with others in the effective giving and animal advocacy space to stay current and identify collaboration opportunities
- Work with agility within a global, remote team and across systems
What We’re Looking For
Leadership Skills
- This is a senior role — you should be comfortable owning strategy and execution simultaneously
- Ability to lead on complex, multi-channel initiatives with agility and strong judgment
- Comfortable working in a lean, mission-driven team with limited hand-holding
Functional Skills
- 5–7 years in marketing, ideally in a startup, small nonprofit, or lean setup
- Proficiency with AI tools (e.g. Claude, co-pilot tools) for content, ideation, and analysis
- Hands-on experience with Google Ads, Meta Ads
- Email marketing campaign management, ideally in a non-profit
- UI/UX sensibility—ability to identify friction in donation flows and recommend improvements
- Experience with content marketing to build earned media, including new media formats (Substack, podcasts, YouTube sponsorships) or experience working with agencies to successfully acquire media opportunities
- Influencer and media outreach experience
Benefits
Our team works hard, but we also make time for our families, animal companions, friends, hobbies, and of course, our own health. Part-time staff are eligible for the following benefits:
- 6 weeks of paid leave, split between PTO and holidays (the exact split is dependent on your country of residence and the number of mandatory holidays recognized by your country)
- Uncapped sick leave
- Flexible scheduling
- 3% 401k (US) or pension (qualified countries) match
- A professional development stipend
- Paid parental, family, and medical leave
- Paid sabbaticals every 5 years
- A health reimbursement plan (US employees) or health stipend plan (non-US employees) to offset private insurance costs
Commitment to diversity and equal employment opportunities
We believe the best decisions are made when diverse perspectives are included. We want to engage all those who can contribute to our mission and to making an impact for animals.
We strongly encourage Black, Indigenous, and people of the global majority, people of all gender identities, LGBTQ+ individuals, persons living with disabilities, caregivers, and people of various socioeconomic backgrounds to apply for this position. A college degree is not required.

Application Process
No cover letters or resumes will be accepted for this role. We believe that these introduce unnecessary bias as well as forcing candidates to guess which information we’re most interested in seeing. Instead, we will provide you with specific application questions that will allow you to demonstrate how your skills and experience align with what we’re looking for. We believe that this is the most efficient and effective way for you to highlight your qualifications and for us to evaluate them.
