About Animal Charity Evaluators
Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) is a registered nonprofit that uses evidence and reason to help people do the most good for animals. We identify where donations can best help animals and award grants to promising projects around the globe. Our three core programs are Charity Evaluation & Recommendations, Movement Grants, and Meta-Fundraising.
Position summary
Your primary responsibility will be to work with our Grants Manager and Finance Director to ensure legal compliance, track financials, and disburse grants. You will also be accountable for setting up grant review spreadsheets, scheduling grant committee meetings, fielding inquiries about the program, and helping keep monitoring data up to date.
This role does not require prior experience in animal advocacy and would be a good fit for someone who excels at administrative work and wants a career change.
Key areas of responsibility
- Due diligence. You will collect information from our recommended charities and Movement Grant recipients to ensure compliance and mitigate grantmaking risks. You will investigate and verify a potential grantee’s legal status, financial health, operational capacity, and mission alignment. This will include performing sanctions checks.
- Grant disbursement. Once due diligence has been completed, you will draft grant agreements and collect signatures, and set up ACH payments and wire transfers to disburse funds as efficiently as possible to our recommended charities and Movement Grant recipients.
- Administrative assistance. You will set up grant review spreadsheets, schedule grant committee meetings, review AI-generated meeting notes for accuracy and share summarized meeting notes with the team, respond to inquiries about our grantmaking programs, track program monitoring data (including summarizing grantee reports), and any other administrative tasks that can support our Grants program.
