Associação Alianima focuses on improving the welfare of farmed animals in Brazil.
The Issue
Brazil has a large and growing number of farmed animals who are kept and killed in cruel conditions. Companies often fail to comply with their stated animal welfare commitments.
Approach
Associação Alianima conducts policy advocacy and engages with corporations and producers to improve welfare standards for farmed animals.

Better Food Foundation (BFF) works in the United States and Canada to create sustainable food systems.
The Issue
In most cultures, eating meat, fish, dairy, and eggs is normalized at nearly every meal, perpetuating demand for animal products and the widespread suffering tied to their production.
Approach
BFF focuses on changing institutional practices, such as plant-based defaults, to reduce animal product consumption.
Impact
High leverage through plant-based defaults and engaging the climate sector.

China Vegan Society (CVS) works to develop the vegan community in China.
The Issue
Evidence indicates that the 56 billion+ farmed animals in China suffer immensely, while the country’s vegan community remains sparse and under-resourced.
Approach
CVS leads events and runs a product certification scheme to strengthen China's vegan community and lower the barrier to consuming vegan products.
Impact
High impact through vegan innovation in a neglected region with the highest number of farmed animals.

Faunalytics works to share research that helps advocates and policymakers make evidence-based decisions for animals.
The Issue

Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) works to reduce the suffering of farmed fishes in India, China, and the Philippines.
The Issue
Despite their vast numbers, fishes remain among the least protected farmed animals, with little industry guidance on welfare practices or regulatory oversight.
Approach
FWI implements practical welfare interventions and promotes higher standards in aquaculture. They also invest in field research to develop novel fish welfare interventions.

Legal Impact for Chickens (LIC) works to make factory-farm cruelty a liability in the United States.
The Issue
Each year, about 9 billion chickens are farmed for meat or eggs in the U.S. They endure serious welfare issues, but animal cruelty prosecutions are rare.
Approach
LIC files strategic lawsuits and enforces cruelty laws to protect chickens and other farmed animals.
Impact
High potential for cost effectiveness through strategic litigation.

New Roots Institute empowers the next generation to end factory farming in the United States through educational fellowships and training.
The Issue
Low public awareness and limited capacity within the movement, including communication and leadership, remain major barriers to addressing factory farming.

New Roots Institute addresses talent and leadership gaps through fellowship programs that train students to be values-driven leaders for animals across different roles.

The Issue
