ACE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the United States with a globally-distributed team dedicated to finding and promoting the most effective ways to help animals. We work toward this mission by evaluating and recommending charities, awarding grants to promising projects, and driving capital in the movement.
ACE’s Theory of Change outlines the unique process by which we create change for animals. We want animals to experience less suffering and greater welfare so that they can lead the lives they prefer. Together, our programs and interventions fill a gap in the movement that builds capacity and amplifies the incredible work that advocates and donors do.
Our 2023-2024 strategic plan simplifies and aligns our vision so that we can work toward common goals. Learn more about how we intend to increase the rigor and quality of our work, increase funding for high-impact charities, interact with a broader audience, and strengthen our sustainability.
Animal Charity Evaluators began in 2012 under the name Effective Animal Activism (EAA), as a division of the U.K. charity 80,000 Hours. Learn more about our journey to finding and promoting highly effective opportunities for helping animals.
We work to identify the most effective ways to help nonhuman animals. Our philosophy focuses on anti-speciesism, promoting welfare, and empirical research. Learn about our philosophical commitments and how they provide the foundation for our work.
